Quote of the Day: Anthony Hopkins on Staying in Character
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking,
"No, I don't [stay in character on set]. There's no such thing. Well, you can do it if you want, but I don't go along with being called 'Mr. Hitchcock.' I think that's a lot of crap. I just don't understand that. If actors want to do that, fine. If they want to be miserable, that's up to them. I'm not interested. It's a job. I do the job. I'm certainly not going to make my life miserable just to be a character."
- Anthony Hopkins, when asked whether or not he likes to stay in character for the duration of filming (as many of the cast members of Lincoln are reported to have done)

Martin Freeman is "annoyed" he wasn't in Harry Potter.
The British star was never cast in the boy wizard film franchise - which starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and a host of other UK talent - and jokes he is still upset at being one of the few major actors to miss out.
"I was one of the only people who wasn't in Harry Potter, and I'm still annoyed by that," he said.
The 41-year-old star is now making up for missing out by landing the lead role of Bilbo Baggins in Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit', and has had to prepare himself for how being in the sure-fire blockbuster will change his life: "You have to police yourself not to become an idiot about it. Because its not normal and it doesn't happen to people with normal jobs. if you're a doctor - and what's more important than that? - then people don't stop you in the street and say, 'Loved the way you took that pulse.' So its skewed and its silly, I know that. But I think I've been pretty rigorous and self-flagellating about it."
Salma Hayek Cried Before Her ‘Desperado’ Nude Scene

Salma Hayek cried before shooting nude scenes with Antonio Banderas. Although most leading ladies would have jumped at the chance to dive into bed with the Hollywood hunk for 1992 movie Desperado, Salma was worried about what her parents would think when they saw her on screen.
"It was my first chance at an American film and I knew I had to take it. In Desperado, I had great difficulty doing the love scene with Antonio Banderas. I actually cried. I didn't want to be naked in front of a camera and kept on thinking, 'What will my mother and father think about this?'"
The movie was a cult hit and helped launch Salma's career, but as her English still wasn't great at the time, she initially thought the film had flopped and critics were blaming her for it. "When the movie came out the critics were saying, 'Salma Hayek is a bombshell.' I was confused because I thought they were saying that the movie had 'bombed,' as in failed, and it was all my fault," she added.

Daniel Craig is the highest-paid James Bond star ever.
The 44-year-old actor - who reprised his role as the iconic British spy for the third time in Skyfall - will earn $50 million to portray the suave secret agent in two more movies, dwarfing the pay cheques received by his predecessors.
Sean Connery was the first actor to play Bond in 1962, earning $15,000 to star in Dr. No. His salary steadily rose, with the average pay for his work on six films in the franchise averaging at $345,000 - around $5 million in today's prices.
George Lazenby earned $540,000 - the equivelent of $730,000 - for his one outing as 007 in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, while Roger Moore brought home an average of $2.2 million, or $10 million today, from his seven films.
The huge contract surpasses the $17 million he earned for Skyfall, which at the time overtook the $16.3 million Pierce Brosnan took home for starring in 2002 Bond movie Die Another Day.

Kristen Stewart will star in a Snow White and the Huntsman sequel - but director Rupert Sanders will not be returning.
The Twilight Saga actress has signed on to reprise her role as the fairy tale princess, but Rupert - who helmed the first movie - will not be taking part in the new project following his affair with Kristen. The filmmaker is completely focused on saving his marriage to Liberty Ross - who played Kristen's mother in the movie - and so studio bosses will find a new director.
"The script has already been written and production will begin late next year. However, Rupert Sanders definitely won't be a part of the project. Rupert didn't want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage. The search is still on for a new director," a source said.
It was previously reported that Liberty, 34, gave her husband an ultimatum after he cheated, telling him he could not be involved with the sequel if he wanted to be with her. "Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can't direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman," a source previously said.

Lindsay Lohan refuses to acknowledge bad reviews.
The 26-year-old actress has reportedly banned her family and friends from discussing professional reviews of her new TV movie Liz & Dick in front of her because she is proud of her performance in the film. Friends close to Lindsay insist she "loved playing Elizabeth Taylor and is in love with the final product."
The troubled starlet has told friends she doesn't want to know what the reviews say regardless of whether it is positive of negative because it would "take away from her experience on the project," according to gossip website TMZ.com.
The actress's new Lifetime movie - which will hit screens tomorrow - has been slammed by many critics including The Hollywood Reporter, which called the film "spectacularly bad."
Meanwhile, Lindsay is also starring in a new music video for rockers R.E.M directed by actor James Franco. In a newly released five minute clip, the actress is seen pouting and posing as a muse for celebrity photographer Terry Richardson in the video for the song "Blue" from the band's final album Collapse Into Now.
No More Sex Scenes for Vanessa Hudgens
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Casting, Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking, New Releases,
Vanessa Hudgens never wants to film a sex scene again.
The actress took part in an onscreen threesome with Ashley Benson and James Franco in Spring Breakers and admitted it was so stressful, she never wants to do it again: "It was very nerve-racking for me. I told my agent that I never want to do it ever again."
However, Vanessa has previously admitted she jumped at the chance to take on the role of college student Candy, who is forced into working for a drug dealer after he bails her and four friends out of jail for robbing a restaurant, in order to move away from her squeaky clean image after High School Musical. "I'm really proud of the movie. I feel like it's a breed of its own, it's a movie unlike any other and it's very fresh and fun and exciting. I feel like it's a great take on our youth culture right now. For a while I was kind of struggling and fighting for these roles that I just desperately wanted. It was hard and it was a struggle, but then again life is always a struggle. Having a career will always be a struggle. You'll always have to fight for what you want. Definitely crossing over and being able to tackle these grittier parts was a challenge, but I feel like I've done it! It's a whole new chapter!" she said.

Kristen Stewart thinks she will be working for her on-screen daughter in the future.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 star has revealed she is completely smitten with her "amazing" young co-star Mackenzie Foy - who plays her daughter Renesmee in the new movie - and would love for the 12-year-old actress to direct her in a movie when she is older.
"She's like one of the coolest kids I've ever met. She use to always be like, 'I want to be a movie director.' I think every single member of the cast was like, 'Cool! Call me for a job because I will work for you!' She's amazing," Stewart said.
The 22-year-old actress - who wowed onlookers in a sparkling lace jumpsuit by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad paired with Louis Vuitton heels - also paid tribute to her fans and admitted they kept her going over the past five years: "To sustain energy from one project for five years is pretty remarkable and we wouldn't have been able to do that if we were the only fans. But to turn up to here and have a million people doing that with you is insane and amazing. It's contagious. A once in a lifetime."
Keith Richards: Johnny Wants Me for ‘Pirates 5’

Johnny Depp wants Keith Richards to star in another Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The actor based his iconic character, Captain Jack Sparrow, on The Rolling Stones star, and Keith made cameo appearances as Sparrow's father, Captain Teague, in 2007's At World's End and 2011's On Stranger Tides. Now, Johnny wants Keith to put on his pirate outfit once again for the fifth movie.
"I spoke to Johnny a couple of weeks ago and he said, 'Are you up for another one?' I can leave it at that because I know no more. But I do have the costume," Keith said.
The 68-year-old musician is more often recognized by the younger generation for his role in the films than he is as a member of The Rolling Stones. "Some kids who don't know nothing about The Rolling Stones [say], 'It's Johnny Depp's dad! It's Captain Teague!' I was born for the part," he said in an interview.
